Plot of The Kerala Story
Fatima Ba is a converted Muslim who shares the story of her personal life. She shares everything about her journey from how a common girl from Kerala who wants to become a nurse ended up in Afghanistan jail. Additionally, she also shares how she got manipulated by some religious heads and ended up being an ISIS terrorist.
However, the movie starts with the character of Fatima who got arrested at the Afghan-Iran border. She reveals her identity as Shalini Unnikrishanan during the investigation. She also shares that she lived in Kerala with her mother and grandmother. Additionally, she moved to a city from Kerala to pursue her studies to be a nurse.
There she met with new people and also became friends with Asifa, Gitanjali, and Matthew. Furthermore, Asifa belongs to some Jihadi group and always tells them about her religious beliefs. Asifa and her other companions (Rameez and Abdul) from her group create a situation in which Shalini and Gitanjali get brainwashed and also start wearing Hijab.
However, their other friend Nimah doesn’t believe her and moves to her separate way. Moving with the story, Shalini falls in love with Abdul and also gets pregnant. However, as per their plan, Abdul ran away and Shalini had to marry Ishaq who is also a member of that group.
